The separation, identification, and characterization techniques relating to β-sitosterol extraction samples of wood products. It is proposed that sterol concentration depends on rainfall received by a tree over the course of its lifetime. Using commercial sterol standard, Silver Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) techniques have been explored. Instrumental techniques, consisting of GC-MS and NMR, can result in reputable qualitative analysis of sterol samples in future research.
