Stress and Dreams
Stress has a direct influence on the content of our dreams. This presentation will explain the evidence behind this theory with examples from the brain's activity during sleep, and the universal themes people have in their dreams. It will explain how metaphors in our dreams can be used as a road map to finding out what is damaging our mental health in our waking lives.

How Introverts Can Change the Bias of Leadership Qualities
The qualities that a "natural born leader" often follows are the qualities of those who identify as extroverts. Those who are introverted and reserved are often not seen as "fit" for a high ranking job in a company because of their differences. In my presentation, I challenge the reasons behind society's bias and how introverts could offer a lot for a company rather than being a liability.

Aromatherapy for Anxiety
I researched whether there is evidence that aromatherapy is effective in the treatment of anxiety. Based on clinical trials, it is proven that in general, scents like peppermint or lavender, are pleasant and can improve someone's mood, but there is no significant change in the levels of anxiety when being exposed to aromatherapy. I thought this was an important topic to research because anxiety is one of the most common mental health conditions.

Immediate Effects of Chocolate on Perceived Quality of Life
I will investigate the effects a chocolate reward has on a subject's perceived quality of life. Research has been done on the long-term effects of chocolate on anxiety, as well as how rewards can affect a subject's mood. In the present study I will give subjects in the experimental condition chocolate as a reward for participating and have them eat it before taking a multifaceted survey on their overall quality of life.

Mental Health in America's LGBTQ+ Youth
LGBTQ+ youth in America experience worse mental health due to many factors. This needs to be addressed in communities, society, and the government so that former successful solutions can be utilized and new ones can be implemented. I am exploring those solutions (unsuccessful or successful), as well as organizations regarding the issue and people that have spoken out about it. I aim to bring light to this issue and open people's eyes to it.

Reducing Compassion Collapse with Compassion Meditation
Evidence suggests that meditation training can be used to train compassion, reduce rejection emotions, and to increase pro-social behavior and perceived social support. This study examines the ability of compassion meditation training to overcome compassion fatigue. Results confirmed our prediction that compassion training led to greater reported compassion for eight individuals compared to one.

Stress Management Techniques in the Workplace
The intention of my research is to determine if Cognitive Reappraisal is an effective stress management technique to use within the workplace. The current research shows that cognitive reappraisal is effective in increasing resource appraisals and decreasing demand appraisals. Using psychology students at SOU, I will examine if doing a reappraise stress exercise versus an ignore stress exercise can mimic the results of previous research.

Walking for Health
This research project explores the potential benefits of group walking in natural environments. Some of these benefits may include improved perceived stress, depression, and overall mental health well-being. Participants were assigned, in one of three conditions, a walk at Lithia Park, a walk indoors at the Rogue Valley Mall, or a social meeting indoors with no physical activity for 45 minutes. Participants took three surveys before and after their assigned activities.
