A Social Psychology Experiment in Patriotism, Respect for the American Flag and Race
This study will test the hypothesis that people of the same race as a protester will agree more often than if the protester is a different race. The study will also test the hypothesis that people will agree that taking a knee instead of standing while the national anthem is played is not disrespectful to veterans. I hope to receive enough participants that placed into my veteran group in order to compare to those that are not veterans, the survey is ongoing and results have not been calculated.

All in the Family 3: A Novel Group of Proteins May Enable Species of Disease-Causing Pythium to Infect Their Plant Hosts
Oomycetes are a group of fungal-like organisms that cause plant diseases through the use of effector proteins which manipulate and break down their host’s immune system. We have been sequencing genes from a recently discovered family of proteins called simply “Family 3” in species of Pythium native to a Pacific Northwest forest to better understand how they do this. Results suggest that these genes are actively evolving by both gene duplication and gene loss non-equally in different species.

Analysis of Faunal Remains at the Homestead of Peter Britt
A poster presentation about the data collected through an internship with McNair in the summer of 2017. It revolves around the faunal data collected throughout Britt Park (site 35JA789). Though the whole of this large and orphaned collection is not complete, the project is in the process of being turned into an Anthropology Capstone project, and will later incude more information about the faunal fragments that were found.

Analyzing Attachment in Shelter Horses
Despite showing similar levels of cognitive responsiveness to humans as dogs, horses lack the same legal protection as household pets. The current study aims to highlight the importance of horse-human attachment by analyzing horses' behavioral reactions to entering a strange environment in the absence or presence of their caretakers. Ideally, investigating the influence of horse-human bonding on a horse's emotional stability will serve a purpose in improving horse welfare on a national level.

Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) Graft Comparison
Injury of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) has become too common in today's active world. This research did a comprehensive literature review in order to compare the three most common ACL grafts used in reconstructive surgery. For the purpose of this research, the scope was narrowed into two specific categories: incidence of re-tear and the length of recovery. Data was collected from a multitude of studies and collected in order to create a comparison graph for the re-tearing.

Antioxidant Activities of Dietary Compounds and Probiotic Bacteria
I am utilizing the ABTS radical cation decolorization assay to determine the antioxidant activity of dietary compounds and probiotic bacteria singly and in conjunction. This project involves UV-VIS spectrophotometry, radical chemistry, and microbiology. The goal of the research is to collect data about possible interactions between probiotic bacteria and commonly ingested antioxidant compounds.

Aromatherapy for Anxiety
I researched whether there is evidence that aromatherapy is effective in the treatment of anxiety. Based on clinical trials, it is proven that in general, scents like peppermint or lavender, are pleasant and can improve someone's mood, but there is no significant change in the levels of anxiety when being exposed to aromatherapy. I thought this was an important topic to research because anxiety is one of the most common mental health conditions.

Art and Nature in Education
Art and connection with nature is scarce in schools. Due to this disconnect, we were able to plan and implement art projects at the YMCA preschool and every week, the students were provided with different projects that we left up to their creativity. For the last project we had each student decorate a pot and plant green onions, students got to see their plants grow and transform. At the end, students got to cut their onions and try them. This experience offered chance to connect art and nature.

Benefits of Gardening
The essence of our capstone was to instill an understanding of sustainability in preschool children. We focused on qualities such as, compassion, patience, and kindness. The outcome of this capstone promoted children's ability to work hands-on within the garden. Children worked on moving and expanding the garden through measuring and removing dirt. They planted flower and vegetable seeds in two gardens.

Benefits of Recycling
My Capstone project was to teach preschool age students about the importance of recycling. This concept of sustainability was taught through creative games, lessons, and multiple reusable art projects. The students walked away with an understanding of recycling, its importance, and the benefits of reusing "trash" or giving it another life through recycling. The students also learned about patience, sharing, and compassion towards others and the earth.

Building a Library at Kids Unlimited
Literacy is the backbone of student learning, since all subjects require literacy skills. The school library we have supported at Kids Unlimited will enhance the students' interest in reading and allow them to have access to books they would not normally have. Having access to a variety of books can lead to students gaining a love of reading and will continue to increase their literacy skills.

Building Meaningful Connections with Students
For my capstone project, I did an internship in a middle school setting working with students to create personal narratives in digital format. Working with students on personal narratives allowed me to build meaningful relationships with them. The focus of my capstone is on the connections I made with students during this process, and how they benefited from them. My process was safe and relatable, and my outcome was measured by the quality of the relationships I built with students.

Child Advocacy in Southern Oregon
I am currently completing my capstone at the Children's Advocacy Center. I want to share my knowledge about ACES (adverse childhood experiences) and local statistics about child welfare in Jackson County. I was also able to complete trauma training and I learned more about early childhood development. Furthermore, I want to touch on ways in which the community can get involved and about research regarding developmentally appropriate practices as an educator of students with ACES.

Community Works Volunteer
This capstone experience focused on fostering continual education and development for children experiencing domestic violence. Deep Eutectic Solvents and Extractions
The Oregon grape contains many well-studied plant products, mainly from the alkaloid class of molecules. However, terpenoids and flavonoids are not as well-studied. The solvents commonly used in extracting alkaloids and other plant natural products are often toxic and not recyclable. This research presents a new solvent system involving mixtures of solids at their eutectic point to extract compounds with potential pharmaceutical benefits from the Oregon grape.

Determination of Pesticides in Honey
Pesticide exposure is one of the contributing factors to colony collapse disorder. Honey can be analyzed for pesticides to show the most recent profile of pesticides honey bees are exposed to. Efficient and accurate analysis of honey is essential for knowing the extent of pesticides bees are exposed to. The QuEChERS method with LC-MS is an effective way to separate and detect pesticides while minimizing time and reagent use.

Digital Storytelling
The essence of my capstone was to support students learning through multiple forms of technology, being vulnerable, and telling personal stories about themselves. This gave students the opportunities to write, edit, and voice record their story in addition to having the courage to express themselves. The final result was having the class listen to each story. Digital Storytelling at Ruch Elementary
Working alongside Abram Katz from the Heartisan Foundation, we helped students build community and confidence with writing techniques and expressing emotion in their descriptive storytelling. The stories were then transformed by the students into a recorded narrative matched with images, bringing their stories to life. This storytelling project was important for the students because it gave them the chance to express themselves, recognize their emotions, and their cultures.

Educate Women, Change the World
Educating women and girls is essential to a successful and fulfilling life. Women and girls in Malawi, Africa are facing struggles to achieve an education through financial struggle, illness, lack of food, and poverty. To teach the importance of educating women and girls throughout the world, a fundraiser dinner and presentation was held. This presentation educated community members about the efforts of the group, Educate Chombo, and the library being built to educate those in Malawi, Africa.

Education Deserts: The Geography of Opportunity
The term "education desert" refers to the regional phenomenon in which a given area either has no access to higher education or access to only a single community college or broad-access institution. Much like a food desert, access to education is limited based on geography. Education deserts perpetuate a cycle of inequity; without access to higher education, residents of rural areas are denied a number of professional and economic opportunities simply because of their place of residence.

Effect of Farming Practice and Storage on Nutrition of Eggs
I will be presenting my capstone research project for my Biology and Chemistry degrees. I am focusing on the effect of storage time and farming practices on the fatty acid profile of chicken eggs. This study shows the rate of degradation of fatty acids over time and how the diet, environment of the chickens, and method of storage impacts this. It also shows the difference in nutritional content of washed vs. unwashed eggs over an 8 week storage time.

Elementary School Garden Club
Our capstone focused on building a sense of community and fostering love and compassion through gardening with students. This project provided hands on learning opportunities in a greenhouse and garden at a local school. Students had an active role in cleaning, organizing, and picking out various plants. They participated in the entire process of growing the plants from seed to transplanting to harvesting. Our project instilled empathy and accountability by promoting sustainably aware citizens.

Endophytic Fungi of Pacific Yew: A Molecular Approach
Investigation of foliar endophytic fungi of Taxus brevifolia across two locations in the Pacific Northwest: A Molecular Approach.
This research was done as part of the Winter 2018 Molecular Biology class by Dr. David Oline. This research describes endophytes in general as well as those we found in Taxus Brevifolia (Pacific Yew) via genetic sequencing. Endophytic fungi, endo meaning inside and phyte meaning plant, are mutualistic or commensal fungi that reside entirely within and help plants.

Examining Intergenerational Poverty, ACE & Behavioral Econ
My focus is economic behaviors of individuals which contribute to intergeneraltional poverty and their origins. I hypothesis that there is a direct correlation between intergenerational poverty and the work surrounding the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) study. The work demonstrated that childhood abuse is dose responsive with lasting physiological and psychological problems. I demonstrate how the economic decision making in high ACE individuals is impaired through a behavioral economics lens.

Family 3 Effector Proteins
For our molecular biology capstone, we sequenced and examined family 3 effector proteins from oomycete plant pathogens. Throughout the project, we constructed clone libraries, extracted and purified DNA and sequenced the family 3 effector genes. We used bioinformatics to explore the diversity within the family 3 effector genes to determine their importance to Pythium pathogenesis.

Fetal Tissue Research
Fetal tissue is the tissue from dead human fetuses, particularly tissue from induced abortions. Fetal cells ability to rapidly divide and adapt to new environments, has made a big impact in playing a great role in scientific research. Because of this fetal tissue has been used for vaccine development and helping advance stem cell research in finding treatments for human diseases. Finding Where You Belong: Social Connectedness in Ashland
Previous research indicates that humans possess a strong need to belong. Leaving this need unfulfilled may contribute to a sense of loneliness and a decreased well-being. The present study measured levels of social connection, social support, collective self-esteem, and stress among people of varying age groups, living in different types of communities in Ashland. The purpose is to analyze if community living settings in Ashland foster a greater sense of connection in their residents.

Generalistic and Mutualistic Coniferous Endophytes
Endophytes are fungal microorganisms that colonize the tissues of virtually all plants and can exhibit a variety of relationships from mutualism to parasitism with their hosts. Ten endophytes isolated from five northwest coniferous tree species were grown on seven different types of agar media made from three different host species and potato dextrose. Preliminary results suggest that some endophytes grow better on tree media than potato dextrose, and some are more host specific than others.

Glorious Handbells
My Project displays how easy it can be to learn how to read and play music. In my capstone, I directed a 5 octave bell choir at the Westminster Presbyterian Church. With the help of an experienced director, I have improved my conducting skills and hopefully I inspire other people to play this type of music. In April, my choir, will be performing a piece called Grazioso. In result, I hope this performance will generate interest among younger kids to start a music program at this church.

My Capstone project focused on health, first aid, and fire safety through a series of lessons, games, and demonstrations. In conjunction with the Phoenix Fire Department, I helped teach two classrooms of students at the local elementary school about the importance of being prepared and knowing what to do in an emergency situation.

Healthy Bodies and Minds
Promoting healthy bodies and minds through yoga and mindful breathing activities was the essence of my work with 3-year-olds at Head Start. Providing strategies that students can use to promote healthy minds, bodies, and spirits helps them become aware of the importance of taking care of not only themselves but others. Overall, teaching children ways to nurture their emotions into positive energy through movement and breathing was a meaningful experience for all.

Heart Rate Variability During Exercise on a Human Gyroscope
This research project examines acceleration parameters, heart rate, and heart rate variability during walking and riding a human gyroscope, or non-motorized multi axis trainer, at moderate intensity. The purpose of this study is to use a wearable three-dimensional orientation sensor called an Inertial Motion Unit, in conjunction with heart rate variability monitors, to better understand the cardiovascular response to changes in the orientation of our bodies in three dimensions.

Holistic Applications in Non-Academic Settings
This project gave children an opportunity to explore their emotions and body awareness in the setting of a gymnastics gym. Children transitioned from an athletic and performance mindset to incorporating social emotional conversations and self development through the methods instructors introduced. Activities ranged from songs, stretching, and language used by coaches to re-enforce progression of athletes with ages ranging from 18 months to 11 years old.

Immediate Effects of Chocolate on Perceived Quality of Life
I will investigate the effects a chocolate reward has on a subject's perceived quality of life. Research has been done on the long-term effects of chocolate on anxiety, as well as how rewards can affect a subject's mood. In the present study I will give subjects in the experimental condition chocolate as a reward for participating and have them eat it before taking a multifaceted survey on their overall quality of life.

Working in a group of three, our capstone project emphasized the importance of environmentally sustainable practices. We educated elementary students in a local school on water pollution, wildfires, and animal extinction. We focused on the impact these issues have on the Earth. By creating meaningful, hands-on learning experiences, we highlighted the effects these threats have within the ecosystem, and provided the students with resources to empower them to lead a more sustainable life.

Institutions and Economic Growth, Recipe for Sustainable Development
This project asks the question of whether resource abundance determines an economy's ability to develop, or whether weak local institutions are responsible. The goal of this paper is to highlight the importance for instituting strong institutional change with local ownership to facilitate sustainable development.

Is Vitamin D an Effective Treatment for Multiple Sclerosis?
For my USEM research topic I investigated the effects of vitamin D on the mysterious disease of MS. I researched different studies from around the world that tested the effectiveness of vitamin D as supplements and from the source of the sun, and general studies that research to seek answers that are still unknown, such as what causes it and how it functions as a autoimmune disease. I will provide data and answers to these topics and more in poster presentation.

The set of French tapestries in English known as the Lady and the Unicorn are considered to be an important artifact of Medieval art. However there is still no clear consensus about what the tapestries represent or why someone would commission such an expensive project. This poster seeks to solve the mystery behind the six tapestries popularized by the French author George Sand.

Language Acquisition
I'm working with two English languange development (ELD) students who speak minimal English. One a Spanish speaker and one a Thai speaker. For over a month I have been separately pulling them out of their language arts classes to do one on one work outside of the ELD classroom. I'm focusing more on the specifics of the class but with an ELD approach. I hope to expedite their learning process both in terms of their classwork and the very pertinent English acquisition as well as heighten my own teaching abilities.

Learning Through Inquiry
Part of being a teacher is getting involved in the community. Students in the community and within the Rogue Valley all go to a place in which they can learn through inquiry and hands on learning. The museum in which this learning occurs helps not only the students learn how to explore, but the teachers and parents learn how to be involved with the learning. I have volunteered here as a community based learning experience and realized the opportunity the community is given.

The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) is the oldest and largest general scientific society in the US and publishes the journal Science. The Pacific Division includes membership in eight western states, two provinces of Canada, and most countries surrounding the Pacific Rim. Physiological Effects of a Rapid Ascent to High Altitude
Pike's Peak was the venue for the USA National Cycling Hill Climb in 2017 and 2018. The race began in Colorado Springs at an elevation of 9,300 feet and finished 12.5 miles higher at the peak of Pike's Peak at an elevation of 14,115 feet. The aim of the study was to determine the physiological effects of a rapid ascent to high altitude among participants at the USA National Cycling Hill Climb at Pike's Peak.

QuEChERS-Based HPLC-MS Analysis of Beeswax Pesticide Content
As bees forage for pollen, they inadvertently collect pesticides that are returned to the hive and incorporated in hive products including honey and beeswax. Elevated pesticide content in beehives poses risks for human consumers of bee products, and has been implicated as a contributing factor of colony collapse disorder. The purpose of this research is to correlate the identity and amount of pesticides applied within the bee foraging radius to the pesticide content of the hives beeswax.

Readers Theater Promotes Literacy Fluidity
Readers theater promotes literacy fluidity and improved comprehension of materials read. Teachers incorporating readers theater into curriculum lets students act out their readings. The physical movement and reading aloud engage multiple parts of the brain, creating new dendrites. A local kindergarten class I worked with chose a play to perform. Once settled on a story, they read aloud their lines and practiced. After practicing, the students did a performance for the class.

Reconnecting Isolated Fisher Populations in Southern Oregon
The Pacific Fisher is found in two genetically isolated populations in Southern Oregon. One native and one reintroduced population. Interstate 5 creates habitat fragmentation across these two populations. We created a series of maps using GIS to determine whether or not I-5 might be the determining factor prohibiting interbreeding between these two populations. The results indicate that there are no natural barriers inhibiting gene flow and imply that the only significant barrier is the I-5.

Redox Potential and Stability of Cyt. c-551 P62K Mutant
The role of the conserved residue proline-62 in the redox potential and stability of the protein cytochrome c-551 was investigated using a mutant in which proline-62 was mutated to lysine (P62K). The P62K mutant protein was heterologously expressed in E. coli under anaerobic conditions and purified by freezing, acidification, dialysis, cation exchange and size exclusion chromatography. Experiments to determine the effect of the P62K mutation on protein stability and redox potential are ongoing.

Reducing Compassion Collapse with Compassion Meditation
Evidence suggests that meditation training can be used to train compassion, reduce rejection emotions, and to increase pro-social behavior and perceived social support. This study examines the ability of compassion meditation training to overcome compassion fatigue. Results confirmed our prediction that compassion training led to greater reported compassion for eight individuals compared to one.

Scarcity and Conditional Reasoning
I investigated the potential role of a general scarcity mindset on performance in conditional reasoning. Previous researchers have found that people use conditional reasoning differently across situations and contexts. A different line of research has identified scarcity as a distinct feeling capable of manipulating cognition. The present study assesses whether scarcity can affect conditional reasoning as well.

Self-Disclosure and Social Media Shortcomings

This study addresses the replication crises in psychology research as well as how self-esteem predicts individuals' views on Facebooks benefits, adding to the meta-analysis of past research while also examining the differences between young Facebook users (aged 18-28) and older Facebook users (65 years and older.) An online survey examined the two age groups self-esteem levels and measured individual's feelings of Facebooks social benefits.

I created the Sex Education Club at SOU because I saw a need on campus for comprehensive and medically accurate education about sex, sexuality, and intimacy. Social Emotional Early Childhood Learning
Through a social emotional development discipline, the children at SOU's preschool had the opportunity to learn self-help and self-regulation skills, mindfulness, and healthy behavioral practices. Children expressed emotions and feelings in a positive way, deviating negative emotional expressions. Using breathing techniques, students were able to center themselves while understanding negative feelings and emotions. This capstone experience showed the growth of developmental differences among children.

Social Stigma on the Biological Children of Serial Killers
To test the hypothesis that there is a prevalence of social stigma on the biological children of serial killers in terms of employment, a 2x2x2 design was conducted with 215 participants. Each were given one of eight vignettes that described a scenario where the participant is choosing an individual for a job position (Nanny or Bank Teller position). The findings suggest that social stigma is present when it is the biological son of a serial killer who is the candidate for the Nanny position.

Soil Microbial Ecology in Response to Long-term Manipulations
Revealing the results obtained during my independent research project that examined soil microorganisms after long-term soil manipulations. The soil was collected after 20 years of controlled alterations to the amount of woody debris, leaves, or roots allowed to reach the soil ecosystem. This study characterized and compared soil microbial communities using soil incubations to assess nitrogen transformations and biochemical analysis of fatty acids to determine community composition.

Stability of Epinephrine Under Varying Conditions
Epinephrine has three known degradation products: D-epinephrine, adrenochrome, and epinephrine sulfonate. The purpose of this study was to determine the stability of epinephrine in different environmental conditions. Epinephrine was subjected to varying storage temperatures, light exposure, pH conditions, and absence/presence of sodium metabisulfite. The results for the temperature study show increased degradation high heat and at room temperature, and was unaffected by light exposure.

These stories build bridges between the SOU campus and our communities and establish a rich new digital resource for research, teaching and learning.

Structural Characterization Techniques of β-sitosterol
The separation, identification, and characterization techniques relating to β-sitosterol extraction samples of wood products. It is proposed that sterol concentration depends on rainfall received by a tree over the course of its lifetime. Using commercial sterol standard, Silver Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) techniques have been explored. Instrumental techniques, consisting of GC-MS and NMR, can result in reputable qualitative analysis of sterol samples in future research.

Substance Abuse, Child Abuse, and Socio-Economic Status
My research project is going to be looking at whether socio-economic status and/or child abuse affects the age of when an individual first starts using drugs. The Colonization of the Female Body
The colonization of the New World is a result of European male supremacy. Through an ecofeminist lens one can see the clear relationship between the way the early-explorers perceive land and women, in a position of self-declared authority. The Determination of Lithium Concentration in Lithia Water
This project was the spectrophotometric determination of the lithium concentration in Lithia water of Ashland Oregon. The complex matrix of Lithia water was analyzed using the complexing agent Thoron (or Thorin), which changes color. This color change was then measured spectrophotometrically with the UV-vis to determine a change in the lithium concentration in solution.

The Effects of Naturalistic Zoo Design on Visitors
This is a study of the effects of naturalistic zoo design on visitor information retention, recall, and conservation-willingness. The study uses images of animals in various settings (naturalistic zoo exhibit, no background, and traditional zoo exhibit) and tests visitor's conservation attitudes on a likert scale before and after exposure to the images, and quizzes them on information presented with the images.

The Fluctuation in Cannabinoid Concentrations in Cannabis sativa
Cannabinoids from the Cannabis sativa plant are increasingly used for their medicinal properties. Previous studies of Cannabis sativa have shown there could be fluctuations in the concentrations of each cannabinoid depending on how consumers store Cannabis sativa products. The purpose of this study was to investigate how cannabidiol (CBD), cannabigerol (CBG), cannabinol (CBN) and ∆9-tetrahydrocannabinol (∆9-THC) concentrations change as a function of time in common consumer storage conditions.

The Iterations of the Death Penalty in the United States throughout History
In my FUSE essay, I decided that it was my interest to look on how to death penalty has changed in America, and with that looking at how multiple different systems have come together to change the death penalty as we know it. It is not of my paper to be subjective in my findings, using factual, evidence-based knowledge to inform on how the death penalty has been a staple in the Criminal Justice system, and how the evolving state of our nation has impacted that very staple.

The Joy and Benefits of Children Moving
My capstone project was to engage preschool children to move through activities that brought joy into their play and educate parents on health, nutrition, and physical activity for home life. In creating newsletters and activities, I was able to educate the benefits and importance of movement to everyone. Children worked on their large and small muscles, reflexes, coordination, and worked on spacial awareness. Parents received information which will benefit their families' overall health.

Ubiquity of Pesticide Contamination in Cannabis
Cannabis is now legal for medical and/or recreational use in 29 US states and the District of Columbia. Current literature indicates that pesticide residues in cannabis products is pervasive, due to lax or unenforced state quality control mandates. This study aims to determine the extent of pesticide contamination of dried cannabis flowers and cannabis concentrates grown/sold in Oregon.

Unwanted Sexual Aggression in the Barroom
Research on the attribution of blame surrounding barroom sexual aggression focuses on predominantly college age students & graduates. In this study I attempted to show how individuals of all ages are affected by their experiences with unwanted sexual aggression. I employed an interview-style survey to evaluate the influence of age on attribution of blame. I did not find a significant difference between different ages on attribution of blame. I discuss possible reasons for the lack of findings.

Visual Arts Sustaining the Earth
For my Capstone, children at a local Head Start Program participated in art lessons that included the use of recycled materials. These artworks highlighted the negative effects of land pollution and potential solutions, while also providing means for children to practice and live more sustainable lives. These art lessons provided children the opportunity to learn using hands-on methods, to work together as a team, to enhance community within the classroom, and to express themselves creatively.

Walking for Health
This research project explores the potential benefits of group walking in natural environments. Some of these benefits may include improved perceived stress, depression, and overall mental health well-being. Participants were assigned, in one of three conditions, a walk at Lithia Park, a walk indoors at the Rogue Valley Mall, or a social meeting indoors with no physical activity for 45 minutes. Participants took three surveys before and after their assigned activities.

We're Not in Kansas Anymore: Supply-Side Tax Cuts
The presentation will center around the Kansas tax plan that was implemented in 2012 which employed supply-side economics. This was the most aggressive tax cutting plan ever implemented as a means to significantly boost Kansas’s economy. Ultimately, however, the supply side plan substantially reduced government revenue and decreased economic growth the recently passed federal tax plan championed by the Republican party has very similar elements to the “failed” Kansas tax plan.

Youth Development and Healthy Living
Healthy eating and physical activity is essential to youth development. We have collaborated with Ashland Family YMCA Kids Club twice a week for three hours a day to conduct various activities to get students to stay active and learn about healthy eating habits. Some guided activities that we organized were yoga, Zumba, and outdoor obstacle courses. We introduced food groups and brought in healthy options for snack. We achieved our goal in teaching children about a healthy lifestyle.

β-peptide Synthesis and Application for Target Active Sites
The objective of this research, conducted under Dr. Marc Koyack of the SOU Chemistry Department, is to investigate the active site of two target molecules, calmodulin and g-alpha-I1, and determine common amino acid residues that can be recognized by the active site of each protein. The goal is to produce short synthetic β-peptides that mimic the natural peptides involved with these proteins, producing peptides applicable to biological environments and for use as novel medication.

µPAD for the Detection of Iron in Drinking Water
Microfluidic Paper Analytical Device (µPAD) technology enables creation of affordable, portable, and durable detection devices. By imprinting chemical reactants on paper, chemicals of interest can be detected through colorimetric analysis. This presentation represents the successful development of a µPAD to detect for iron in drinking water utilizing the colorimetric reaction of 1,10-phenanthroline with ferrous iron.
